This time we're going to talk about tropical flowers. Ecuador is a geographically privileged place, since it has a climate that allows the production of this type of flowers. Going down from the capital Quito towards the west coast of the Pacific, we find an interesting ecosystem. The temperature increases as you descend to the coast and we find a thick fog typical of the Ecuadorian Andes.
The humidity is high and this is where fauna and flora abound in quantity and species. The tropical flowers are in essence one of the most beautiful varieties that exist, with their extravagant figures and their brilliant colors, they call the attention to own and to strangers, for that reason also they have adopted the name of exotic flowers. And not only for their exterior are the tropical flowers fascinating, but for their characteristics of easy care and high durability in vases or events. The farms where this type of flowers grow are located in warm and humid zones in the center of the world.
This type of ecosystem, where dawn with fog is almost a constant, and the temperature ranges from 15 to 35 º C and a humidity that exceeds 70% most days, provides everything to produce both outdoors and inside greenhouses, varieties of flowers such as heliconias, ginger, rostrata, shampoo ginger and leaves such as marginata, cordelines, crotos, acrodion, among others. With these varieties of tropical flowers, in Fresh-o-Fair we can guide you to elaborate fabulous arrangements buying the mixed boxes offered by the farms that produce these flowers.
Tropical flowers such as Heliconia and Ginger are simply magnificent, exotic and last relatively long. But they are a problem: Nobody gives a Heliconia to their partner, not even for their birthday - even less for Valentine's Day. Because they are not easy to handle. But if you have the right tools, it's very easy.
These large flowers need a relatively large or tall container/vase. And the easiest way is to use the green foam, called oasis, which is actually available everywhere - at florists, in the DIY department and, of course, on the Internet.
Then all you need is a mix box of tropical flowers, which contains not only the large heliconias and ginger, but also various foliage. With one box you can make three flower arrangements!
It is important to place the oasis in the water - without submerging it, so that there are no air bubbles in the center. The water is sucked in a few minutes. Then place the oasis in the prepared container. In my experience, you need approximately 1 or 1 ½ oasis block for each arrangement. It can easily be cut to the desired size.
Now you take the first heliconia and put it very straight in the center, to the bottom, after having cut it to the desired length. Large flowers have to be placed quite vertically in the container, because their weight should not be underestimated. There are no limits to your imagination. You could cut the next flower a little shorter, place it in front of the first, the third perhaps a little inclined....... Then add the foliage until you see nothing of the oasis.
Tropical flowers are great, because a floral arrangement already looks beautiful with three heliconias. Or even with a single heliconia and two or three ginger.
It's a really beautiful job with a guaranteed feeling of success!
